Here’s what we’ve been up to!

  • General Assemblies

  • Internal Workshops

  • Internal Updates

Our monthly General Assembly serves as a time for the members of the TD Executive Team to come together, bond, and inspire each other. Each G.A. comprises interactive and engaging mental health discussions presented by both the Executives and the Research Committee. These include various topics under the organization’s advocacy and updates on the current movement of mental health in the Philippines. These monthly discussions and reflections with the team are the core of the platform of the current Executives; for the organization and its members to mature in their personal and collective advocacy.

General Assemblies

2021-2022

Wrapping up application season for Talang Dalisay’s operating year of 2021-2022 is the Welcoming General Assembly wherein we finally meet each other for the first time as a team. Just as the dance floor is filled with all sorts of dancing styles and personalities, everyone was invited to groove together in Retro-style. Listen to the TD Jukebox on Spotify, containing many of our Retro-favorites that we danced to last September 2021: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7C1N925FDeikukwtcpbZO3?si=c91633faaec74723

Welcoming G.A.

In the spirit of celebrating one of the most festive holidays of the year, the Human Resource Committee hosted their very own Halloween Party for the organization. This served as a special bonding general assembly where members dressed up and participated in a Filipino Folklore themed party. Various games and challenges were prepared for every participating member to snatch some points in a heart-racing competition to finish! This year’s Halloween Party grand winner went to the Correspondents’ Committee for garnering the most points with their creativity and competitiveness. Watch this space for next year’s winner 👀

Halloween Party

Bringing the Executive Team together again after a couple of months of establishing the team and their work, the GA served as a way to realign the team and affirm their efforts so far. The theme for the GA was Studio Ghibli because of the studio’s inspirational expression of celebrating the little things of life, and most of all ourselves. The GA emphasized celebrating all our W’s (wins) and connecting with each other through our aspirations as individuals and as a whole.  Listen to a few of our favorite sounds with Jace Zhang’s playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0uzIXYafL8wS1Fu1Kp9Q8Q?si=965f535c18fc4e08

November General Assembly

Coming to the end of the year 2021 created a more reflective mood within the team. This December GA focused on a more personal and intimate discussion amongst our members, wherein we spent more time in smaller breakout rooms. Each room covered various prompts about our personal advocacies and thought-provoking questions on the individual experiences or opinions on certain aspects of mental health as advocates. The discussion helped us to get a deeper understanding and wider perspective of our purpose and shared experiences; why we’re here together with the desire to improve ourselves and the world around us. Setting the tone of the GA was this chill playlist from us: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5ibDLsNhL0oEnrbhuxL9A2?si=d9f4454f1cdd4b88

December General Assembly

2022-2023

Due to COVID restrictions still in place in the Philippines, the first 2022-2023 General Assembly for Talang Dalisay members were held on Zoom. In General Assembly meetings, directors and members are able to talk about goals and expectations for the year. At the core of it all, we make sure to prioritize talking about TD’s core purpose and how we as young people can make that into fruition through our evolving and improving projects and outreaches.

Internal Workshops & Updates!

Skills R Us Graphic Design Workshop

December 2021

Skills R Us is an initiative by the Human Resource Committee with the goal of equipping members of TD with proper aptitude to upgrade their various abilities into mastered proficiencies. The series of workshops also aimed to help members identify their own skills gaps, introduce new hobbies, and enhance existing capabilities.

Their first successful installment of the ongoing series was in December 2021. A Graphic Design workshop by the Content Creation director of O.Y. 2021-2022, where the basics of Graphic Design were introduced in a follow-along demonstration.

How to be Bob the Star Planner

November 2021

Bob the Star Planner is a workshop hosted by the Logistics and Project Management Committee at the start of the year to empower members to build on their skills in project planning and ideation. By building on the knowledge of their members, the goal was to help them take more initiative towards their advocacy in the organization by putting their ideas into actions through creating projects that can benefit others as well. This also served as a way to build connections with members of TD to encourage collaborative project planning.

MacylovesYOU

Talang Dalisay’s founder, Macy Lee, created this initiative in February 2022 together with the Executives of O.Y. 2021-2022 to cultivate a shared, safe space for both her and the team to share their stories and learn from each other. The name of this project comes from Macy’s blog, Macylovescows for her love for cows, never forgetting her love for TD. These mini, hour-long sessions also paved a way for new members of the team to personally meet Macy, and to  be able to share and hear personal stories which might have otherwise been left unheard. In this space, discourses on the various aspects of mental health, both personal and on the advocacy were covered.

Directors Training

As leaders and advocates, it is crucial to be aware of one’s strengths, and to continuously strive to improve oneself holistically. Every year, directors of Talang Dalisay receive bi-monthly training by the Executives, which tackle various aspects of leadership, advocacy, and character building. These hour-long, interactive sessions are designed to confront common perceptions, habits, and emotions when it comes to leadership and being a mental health advocate.

Health Breaks

January 2022

Following the subsequent events of the country coping with the new Omicron variant as well as our members coming back from their academic break, we decided to put all our activities on hold to allow the members to really focus on themselves. These breaks were encouraged and officially mandated when needed. As mental health advocates, we strongly believe in taking care of one’s mental health first and foremost. This is something we wish to extend to one another within Talang Dalisay and to people around us. From our hearts to yours, we do hope you take breaks too, reader! 🤍
